Langmeier Backup FAQ

Is that possible? Image backup from the old computer to the new one

Question from Lars S.: "I have bought a new computer. Can I import my image backup onto the new computer to get an exact copy of my old computer?"

No, that is not possible. You have to install the operating system on the new computer using the original CD. For one thing, you will have trouble getting the computer to start up with such an image copy because, for example, the boot sector of the two computers is not compatible. Secondly, each PC has different hardware and therefore requires different drivers . You would be trying to operate the new computer with drivers that are not adapted to the system. This cannot work. Not even with the backup software of the competition, even if their sophisticated marketing tricks may make this promise.

Our tip: Take the time to prepare a new computer to minimize problems in the future. Transfer existing file backups to the new computer to have all your desired data on the new PC. This way you can easily access archive photos or emails from the old computer that you have previously backed up with Langmeier Backup.
