Langmeier Backup FAQ

Tips: Stop services before backup

Sometimes it makes sense to stop a Windows service before the backup in order to restart it after the backup. This is very easy to do in Langmeier Backup.

Use the following batch commands:

net stop "service name"
net start "service name"

Examples

Stops the server service:

net stop "server"

Starts the message service:

net start "Message service"

Save these batch commands with the Windows editor in a file with the extension .bat. Then go to Options -> Settings for this task in Langmeier Backup and select the file path for the batch file just saved in the Before backup -> Execute script area. For the service to be restarted afterwards, write a separate batch file and select it under After backup -> Execute script.
