Langmeier Backup FAQ
Langmeier Backup runs faster with these professional tips!
Are you looking to accelerate your backups with Langmeier Backup? With the right program settings, you can significantly improve backup performance. Below, you will find practical tips to help you optimize your backup speed.
Recommended Settings to Speed Up Your Backup:
-
Create a hard disk image instead of a file backup, especially for your operating system partition. A hard disk image backup is performed in a single step, whereas a file backup requires opening and processing each individual file. You can find detailed instructions on creating a hard disk image here.
-
For even faster hard disk image backups, select a division size of approximately 700 MB.
-
In the third step of the “Setup” wizard, uncheck “Remove automatic generation backup”.
-
In the main window, enable the “Only back up changed files” option.
-
Under the “Expert settings” tab in the options, activate “Check archive bit for the selection of files to be backed up”.
-
Deselect “Also back up open files”.
-
In “Settings for this task”, remove the option “Check data backup”.
-
In the “Setup” wizard, remove the checkmark next to “Encryption”.
-
In the “Setup” wizard, remove the checkmark next to “Zip compression”.
-
Double-click on a path to be backed up in the main window and, under the “Include/Exclude” tab, exclude unimportant files (e.g., temporary folders).
Please note: If you use your PC while Langmeier Backup is running, the backup speed is intentionally reduced to ensure smooth operation. This effect is most noticeable on less powerful computers and is generally negligible on high-performance systems.
To ensure your backup runs at full speed, schedule it during work breaks using a planning job. For example, under “Schedule”, set “Start backup: when idle for 15 minutes”. This way, the backup will start during your breaks and will be executed at maximum speed.
