Langmeier Backup FAQ

Keep your data backup lean! Clean up.

By default, Langmeier Backup creates continuous backup copies of all changed and newly added data on external hard disks. Now the question is, why does it not delete the files from the backup if they have been deleted on the computer?

The reason is obvious, because if all deleted files were immediately removed from the backup, what would happen if the user accidentally deletes a file? That's why it makes sense to use Langmeier Backup's default setting.

Now there is the menu item "Clean up" and there "Remove deleted files". If you like, you can run this cleanup from time to time to bring the backup to a "clean state". However, this manual clean-up only works for those who have not switched off the "Create complete folder structure" option. So the $ sign must be in the backup path, otherwise it won't work.

If you have configured Langmeier Backup differently, you can still perform the cleanup by simply creating a backup and selecting "Synchronize" as the backup type in the "Settings for the current task" window under "Quick configuration". Then, when the backup is started, all previously deleted files are also removed from the backup in no time at all. Caution is advised, however, as this function does not prompt for the files to be deleted.
